Safe Practices Guidelines Updated 11/23/2021 Wisconsin Department of Health Services Gathering & Event Guidance If you choose to attend or host a gathering, consider actions you can take to reduce the spread of COVID-19. NSHD is moving from our Phased Reopening Model to a longer-term plan of Safe Practices Guidelines. Theses guidelines are directly from the CDC and WI DHS. CDC Guidance Key points: Avoid large events and gatherings, when possible. Consider the level of risk when deciding to host an event. Promote healthy behaviors and maintain healthy environments to reduce risk when large events and gatherings are held. Be prepared if someone gets sick during or after the event WI Department of Health Services Guidance Key Points: Get vaccinated Wear a mask if not vaccinated Stay 6ft away from others Wash hands frequently Stay home when sick Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces Getting tested if you are having symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 Gating Criteria: Cases: Trajectory of the ratio of COVID-positive tests Testing: Testing availability for all residents with COVID-19 symptoms Care: Hospitals’ ability to treat all patients requiring hospitalization without resorting to crisis standards Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Adequate PPE available for healthcare personnel and first responders Tracing: Ability to count, trace, and monitor COVID-19 cases and outbreaks in real time The current status for each of the gating criteria can be found in the table to the right and more information is available on the MKE County Office of Emergency Management Dashboard under the “Key Indicators” tab.
