NORTH SHORE CARES

NS CARES (Community Action to Reduce and Prevent Existing and Future Substance Use) at NSHD is focused on educating and empowering the community to save lives through harm reduction and substance use prevention. Our goal is to provide essential resources that help reduce risks and save lives.

Naloxone (Narcan) is an easy-to-use medication that reverses poisonings from opioids (including fentanyl, heroin and prescription medication) and is for everyone.
✴ Naloxone is safe for use by everyone, including older adults, pregnant folks, kids, and pets.
✴ Think of naloxone as first aid—it can save a life, just like CPR or an AED.
✴ Many people carry naloxone to be prepared in case someone needs it.

NSHD offers FREE, short training sessions on how to use naloxone and fentanyl/xylazine test strips, along with a free box of naloxone and test strips for businesses, community members, and residents.
